Welcome to the home of Salvia Genomics Database.

The database provides access to the annotated Salvia genomes and genomics datasets. This includes the Chia (Salvia hispanica) plant genome.

About Salvia

Salvia is the genus representing plants of the Lamiaceae (Mint/Sage) family. The plants come in various forms like shrubs and herbaceous, with perennial or annual lifecycles. Many of the widely used herbs from this taxonomic clade include common sage (Salvia officinalis)rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus or Rosmarinus Officinalis), and Chia (Salvia hispanica), a well-known Superfood and a Pseudoceral.

Chia seeds are consumed for their rich dietary fibers, proteins, and polyunsaturated Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids (PUFA). The plant is also the source of secondary metabolic compounds with medicinal and agricultural use properties.
